What is an explainer video?

An explainer video turns a static web page into an engaging video with an animated character. Picto.Video reads the web page you paste and drafts the scenes, and the character you pick narrates them, with your pictures and clips in the scene. The result is a video and a captions file you can use on your web page itself or on social media.

How to make an explainer video from a page

Four steps. The first one takes about half a minute.

  1. Paste the link

Picto.Video reads the linked page and drafts a script of 6 to 9 scenes, each with a line of 21 words or fewer.

The Start screen: a page address in the field, Draft my script working, and the note Reading the page and drafting your script. About half a minute.
  2. Customise the script

Edit the scenes as you like. When a scene has pictures or a video, the character sits in the corner of the frame, giving your assets space to shine. You can drop scenes, move them about or edit the text that goes over them.

Scene 2 open for editing: its line at 20 of 21 words, the Corner layout with the character over the picture, and Remove scene.
  3. Pick a character and a tier

Max or Nora. 480p, 720p or 1080p. The tier sets the price per second of narration.

The character and tier panel: Max or Nora, and the 480p, 720p and 1080p tiers, each with its credits a second.
  4. Render and download

Each scene renders to its own clip, then the video comes together. Download the MP4 and the captions file.

Questions, answered

How do I make an explainer video from a web page?
Paste the address of the page. Picto.Video drafts a script of six to nine scenes. Edit the lines, give scenes a picture or a clip, pick a character and a tier, and render. The MP4, the captions file and every scene clip are then yours to download.
How long is the video?
Six to nine scenes, each a spoken line of 21 words or fewer. Most come out around a minute. The scene count and the lines are yours to change before you render.
What does an explainer video cost?
You pay per scene, by the seconds of narration at the tier you pick. The exact price shows before you render. Drafting the script is free. If a scene fails on our side, its credits come back.
Can I change the script?
Yes. Every line is editable, up to 21 words. Add, remove and reorder scenes between six and nine. Edit a line after rendering and only that scene renders again.
Can I use my own pictures and clips?
Yes. Each scene takes an image or a short video of up to 8 MB. The character sits in the corner over it. A scene without a visual shows the character full frame, or the line on a plain card.
Who are Max and Nora?
The two characters. Max is energetic and upbeat, with lively hand gestures. Nora is warm and calm, with slow graceful gestures. One character speaks the whole video. Changing the character renders every scene again.
Which pages can it read?
Any public web page address starting with https. Pages behind a sign-in cannot be read. Word, PDF and text files are not supported yet.
Does the video have music?
No. The video carries the narration only, with a captions file alongside. Add music in your editor if you want it.
Do I need an account?
Yes, before the draft. Sign in with Google or an email address so your videos and credits are kept.
Is this an AI explainer video generator?
Yes. The script, the voice and the character's performance are generated from your page. The lines and the visuals stay under your control.

Paste a page. Read the script in half a minute.
